The core of Trash is its distortion engine. The Trash module lets you blend up to four distortion settings using an XY pad, and you can modulate the distortion to add dynamics and movement over time.

The Convolve module adds spatial processing by applying impulse responses. You can blend up to four impulse responses at once and load your own files through the Impulse Response Loader. The developer notes that the plugin includes over 300 impulse responses and presets, plus more than 60 distortion presets.

Trash can split the signal into low, mid and high frequency bands, so distortion can be applied to one part of the spectrum only. The Swap control changes the order of the Trash and Convolve modules within each band.

The plugin includes autogain and limiter settings to manage output levels. The interface places all controls on one screen, which keeps the workflow in one place without menu navigation.
