01Overview

Insight 2 is built for checking a mix rather than shaping it. You choose the meters you want, set targets for your delivery standard, and resize the window to suit your monitoring setup. Routing any track to Insight 2 lets you check loudness, levels, phase and frequency content. The plugin also includes the Intelligibility Meter, which compares dialogue against the rest of the mix, and it supports multichannel analysis up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.2.

Metering for loudness, levels and dialogue clarity

Insight 2 includes a set of meters that can be arranged to fit a session. Level meters can show colored warnings, so potential problems stand out at a glance.

The Intelligibility Meter is new in this version. It estimates whether dialogue is likely to be overshadowed by the rest of the mix, and lets you check this against different listening environments, from low to high noise. iZotope says its DSP determines when mix levels prevent dialogue from being heard clearly.

Layouts, resizing and session routing

You can display and resize any meter, or start from one of the included layouts built for specific post and music production settings. The main window can be shrunk to the size of a single meter, which suits a corner of a secondary monitor.

With iZotope Relay, audio from any track or bus can be sent to Insight 2 for analysis, so you can compare individual tracks against the full mix. Relay also handles phase inversion and delay offset for aligning multi-mic sources. Visual Mixer, which works with Relay, is sold separately in Neutron 2 Advanced and is not included with Insight 2.
