About pluginhood

pluginhood is an independent catalog that helps producers find the right plugin or preset pack — and check that it will actually run in their studio — before they buy.

What we do

Shopping for plugins usually means a dozen tabs: one for the format list, one for system requirements, one for the synth a preset pack needs. We put that information side by side. The catalog currently covers 4,585 plugins and 1,811 preset packs from 267 developers, sorted into 70 categories.

For every product you can see:

  • plugin formats (VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP and more) and supported operating systems;
  • for preset packs, the exact synth or sampler they require — with every pack for that host on one page;
  • a plain-English overview, key features, specs and answers to common questions;
  • whether a free trial is available, plus upgrade and crossgrade options;
  • how the product is rated by buyers on Plugin Boutique.

Where the information comes from

Product data — names, formats, system requirements, categories and ratings — comes from the Plugin Boutique catalog and is refreshed periodically. Descriptions, feature summaries and FAQs are written for pluginhood from that data. Ratings are shown exactly as published by the store, with the number of ratings they are based on; we do not edit them or add our own.

We don't list prices. They change often — sales, bundles, regional pricing — and a stale number is worse than none, so each product links to the store, where the current price is always shown.

Independent by design

Developers can't pay to be listed, featured or ranked higher. Default ordering uses the number of store ratings a product has collected, and you can re-sort by rating or name at any time on the browse page.

Some store links are affiliate links, which is how the site is funded. It never costs you anything extra; the details are in our affiliate disclosure.
