Sound and Character of the CP-70 V Electric Piano

The plugin is built on eight dynamic layers of sampling, which Arturia pairs with circuit modeling to reproduce the piano's electric pickup character. Modeled EQ, tremolo and output stage sections shape the tone further.

Additional pedal and key noises are included, so the playing feel carries small mechanical details alongside the main sound. Timbre shift changes the tonality, and an age option applies detune for a more worn, vintage quality.

Arturia notes that the original was used on many recordings of the period, and presents this model as a faithful recreation of that sound.

Workflow, Tuning and Effects Controls

The effects pedal rig offers four slots and 16 FX profiles, including Twin AMP FX emulating a Fender Twin or Leslie speaker and a room ambiance selection. These let you move from a raw sound to a heavily processed one within the same instrument.

An advanced velocity curve editor sits alongside instrument, output, acoustics and mechanical tuning options, giving control over how the keys respond and how the instrument is voiced. The variety of presets covers a range of voicing possibilities as a starting point.
