01Overview

Wurli V is Arturia's software recreation of the Wurlitzer 200A, a piano known for a sound that moves from mellow and soft to hard and brash. Arturia built it with physical modeling rather than static samples, so the instrument can be shaped at the level of its engine. Its harder, cutting tone is the reason the original became popular in rock, and the plugin extends that character with modeled amplifiers, microphones and stompbox-style effects.

Sound Character and Sound Design Controls

Arturia says the Wurlitzer 200A could range from soft and mellow to hard and brash, and Wurli V reproduces that dynamic range. Because the sound is generated by a physical model, parameters such as hammer hardness, the harmonic spectrum and the dynamic range are exposed for detailed editing.

The output can be processed through a chain of modeled guitar effects, including wah, overdrive, phaser, chorus, delay and reverb. You can route the signal through modeled guitar tube amps or a Leslie rotating speaker, or keep it direct.

Workflow, Host Support and Use Cases

Wurli V includes extensive MIDI mapping of pedals, effects and sound engine parameters, which helps when you want to control the sound live or from a controller. The plugin works in Standalone, VST, AAX, Audio Unit and NKS formats, with NKS support limited to 64-bit DAWs.

Arturia positions it for rock and R&B electric piano parts, as well as electric rock backing tracks and psychedelic space trance. It is also included in Arturia's V Collection 5, and a preset browser with tags, favorites and playlists helps you manage your sounds.
