01Overview

Vox Continental V recreates the transistor-based sound of the VOX Continental 300 using TAE physical modeling. The developer modeled the original's key contact timing and background noise, and added the follow-up J70 organ by Vox inventor Tom Jennings, so both instruments sit in one plugin. Its tone is known for blending with guitars, from single-drawbar melodies to driven power chords, which suits indie rock and mod-style playing.

Classic VOX Organ Sound and Character

The plugin is built around a dual-manual VOX 300 emulation and a Jennings J70 voice engine mode. You can switch between an expanded mode with additional drawbars, a waveform drawbar in each section, vibrato, tremolo and an expanded percussion section, and an open mode that lets you tune each pitch individually, adjust key contact timing and change the amount of background noise bleed.

The organ can run into built-in modeled amplifiers and rotary speaker outputs, including Fender, Marshall and Leslie models, and a set of vintage stompbox effects is included to shape the signal further.

Workflow, Controls and MIDI Setup

The upper manual, lower manual and bass pedal sections can be mapped using complete MIDI control over pedals, effects and sound engine parameters. Each manual can be split across MIDI channels or assigned independently, and the plugin integrates closely with Arturia KeyLab MIDI controllers.

The interface can be resized for high-resolution displays. A redesigned preset browser supports name search, tag filtering, favorites, comments and playlists.
