01Overview

SigMod is built around a modular signal chain. Its twelve single-process modules can be inserted, swapped and reordered to build custom routing, and the chain resizes automatically so the signal flow stays readable. The plugin is aimed at producers who need routing options their DAW does not offer natively, or who want to combine existing plugins in new ways. NUGEN Audio describes it as a way to add missing functionality to a DAW and its existing plugin collection.

Routing Modules and Signal Chain Options

SigMod includes twelve modules: Mid/side, Protect, Tap, Crossover, Insert, Mute/solo, Trim, Switch, DC offset, Mono, Phase and Delay. You can combine them in any order to set up the routing you need.

The Mid/side module lets you apply mid/side processing to stereo plugins by placing the encoder and decoder on either side of a left/right plugin instance. The Crossover module splits highs from lows so each band can receive different effects, and the Tap and Insert modules support parallel processing and placing plugins within the chain.

Mono Checks, Stereo Tools and Output Protection

Several modules target tasks that are awkward in many DAWs. Mute/solo and Trim work on the left and right sides of a stereo signal independently, and Switch flips the stereo image. DC offset detection and correction help preserve headroom.

The Mono module switches the signal to mono so you can check how a mix translates to single-speaker playback. The Phase module shows the relationship between the left and right channels, and Delay can correct timing differences. The Protect module, placed across the output bus, can cut in to stop bursts of noise or feedback, with manual or automatic reset options.
