01Overview

RP-VERB 2 is intended for users who already own Rob Papen's RP-VERB 1 and want to move to the newer version. The original reverb became popular with many producers for its dense, warm sound. The upgrade keeps that core reverb and adds tools for reshaping it, including a Reverser section that reverses the reverb signal, an Envelope Follower, Envelope, LFO and Mod Matrix for controlling parameters, and a Distortion module with four algorithms. Reverb Character and the New Reverser

Rob Papen says RP-VERB 2 keeps the dense, warm character that made the original popular. The reverb engine offers ten models, including Hall, Room, and Vintage and Space Orbit types, with controls for size, length, pre-delay, damping and filtering.

The new Reverser section takes the reverb signal and reverses it. It offers tempo sync, trigger level and offset, retrigger time, attack and decay controls, and a mix control between reversed and normal output. The developer describes it as suitable for vocals, drums and loops.

Modulation and Distortion Tools

The Envelope Follower, Envelope and LFO can each drive reverb parameters, and the Mod Matrix routes three sources to three destinations. Triggers can come from the host, notes, pitch bend, mod wheel and several MIDI controllers.

The Distortion module offers fold-over, fuzz, power and saturation types, with two amount controls. An ensemble chorus and early reflections section add further shaping options before or within the reverb.
