01Overview

ShimmerVerb is built around a pitch-shifting reverb, a sound associated with Eventide's hardware pitch shifters. Rather than placing a separate pitch effect before a reverb, it applies pitch shifting to the reverb tail itself. Eventide positions it for guitars, keys, synths, samples and vocals, and it adds performance controls such as a ribbon macro, a hot-switch between two parameter states, and a freeze function for turning sustained sounds into smeared textures.

Pitch-Shifted Reverb Tails and Shimmer Character

The core of ShimmerVerb is a reverb with parallel pitch shifters on its tail. You can pitch the reverb in perfect fourths, fifths and octaves, with four octaves of range from two octaves down to two octaves up. MicroPitch tuning gives finer control around those perfect intervals.

FEEDBACK sends delayed, pitched signal back into the reverb input, which can build cascading tails. The Low, Mid and High cross-over network sets which frequencies are fed back, so you can control how the feedback texture sits in the mix. Pitched signals can be delayed up to one second or synced to your DAW tempo.

Performance Controls: Ribbon, HotSwitch and Freeze

THE RIBBON is a macro that lets you change several parameters at once in real time. Eventide notes that on desktop you can map it to a MIDI keyboard's modulation wheel for hands-on control. HOTSWITCH stores a second set of parameters within one preset so you can jump between two states instantly, which suits changing octaves, switching the pitch shifters on or off, or adjusting the mix during a performance.

FREEZE holds the current state of the reverb as a smeared texture, which Eventide describes as useful for single voices, full pads or percussive sounds.
