MangledVerb is a reverb and distortion effect plugin from Eventide, ported from the H9 Harmonizer for use in digital audio workstations. It combines a stereo reverb with a complex distortion stage for lush washes or aggressive, ripping leads.
MangledVerb is built around a variable pre-delay that feeds a stereo reverb into a distortion effect. Eventide says the sound can range from light, bowed-string friction to heavy, chaotic distortion. The plugin is based on an algorithm from Eventide's Eclipse rack unit and is also included in the Space and H9 stompboxes, and presets can be moved between those devices and the plugin.
MangledVerb is designed for sound design rather than transparent room simulation. Increasing the Size and Overdrive controls moves the output toward expansive, otherworldly textures.
The distortion stage offers a range from Softclip to Overdrive, so you can move smoothly between gentle grit and more aggressive breakup. The Wobble control adds spooky detuning effects to the processed signal.
The Ribbon control lets you program two settings for any combination of parameters and transition between them smoothly. HotSwitch lets you jump to an alternate setting instantly with a single press.
MIDI control of The Ribbon and Tap Tempo are supported for on-the-fly adjustments in performance. Mix Lock keeps the wet-dry balance constant while you scroll through presets, and the plugin can run in mono-in/mono-out, mono-in/stereo-out or stereo-in/stereo-out configurations.

MangledVerb runs on Windows 10 and later, including Windows 11, and on macOS 10.14 and later, including Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. No iLok dongle is required, but a free iLok account or Manager is needed for authorisation. Eventide says it tests the plugin in Ableton Live, Cubase, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Pro Tools and Studio One, and it should work with any compatible host.
