01Overview

Tverb is an effects plugin built around three independent reverbs. Its design is based on the microphone setup Tony Visconti used for the title track of David Bowie's album Heroes, recorded at Berlin's Hansa Studios in 1977. Two movable microphones, gates and a compressor shape how the reverb opens and closes, while a room mixer and a channel console give you control over the tone of each signal path. The plugin is available in 64-bit builds for Windows and macOS.

Multi-Microphone Reverb Design and Sound

Tverb uses three reverb paths. Microphone 1 has adjustable polar patterns that change how much ambient room tone it picks up, plus a compressor. Microphones 2 and 3 can be moved to different positions in the virtual hall, changing the size and tone of their reverb.

The two post-reverb gates can be linked. You control when each gate closes, how quickly it closes, and how long it is forced to stay open. This lets you recreate the swell-and-cut behavior of the original session or build new rhythmic and atmospheric effects.

Eventide describes the reverb algorithm as a custom design with EQ, diffusion and decay controls. The room mixer adds separate control over decay, diffusion and frequency attenuation for the room itself.

Workflow Controls and Automation

The console section provides post-reverb processing on each individual microphone and on the master. Signal inversion buttons let you remove or create phase cancellation between channels, which can be useful when the microphones interact.

Mix Lock keeps the wet/dry balance constant while you scroll through presets or change settings, so you can audition sounds without changing the level of the effect. Complete automation support lets you record movement of the microphones and other parameters from your DAW, including microphones that move around the hall during a track.
