01Overview

RevSane is an effects plugin from Rob Papen, filed in the Reverb subcategory. Its core is a dense reverb engine with early and late reflections, but it also includes a fuzz distortion stage and a Disrupt Sphere that lets you move many parameters at once. Producers who want a conventional, thick reverb can use it that way, while those who like experimental processing can use the Sphere, audio follower and MIDI modulation to shape the sound in motion.

Reverb Sound and Creative Processing

RevSane's reverb is built on the RPCX algorithm and offers ten models, including Hall Clean, Hall Cave, Room Storm and Vintage Type 1. Controls for size, length, pre-delay, damping and low-pass and high-pass filters let you set the tail to fit your mix.

Beyond the core reverb, the distortion stage and the early and late reflection sections add further shaping options. The Disrupt Sphere ties these together: its slider holds eight controls that can be linked to RevSane parameters, so one movement can change several settings together.

Modulation, Audio Follower and Workflow

The audio follower can use the input, side input or the output of each processing stage as a control source, with smoothing and an amount control. It can also drive the Disrupt Sphere itself, so the sound can respond to the dynamics of the signal.

The Sphere can return to center in a tempo-based way through its Spring feature, and Lazy Mode lets the slider move automatically in different directions. Lazy Mode can be started by host playback, note input, pitch bend, mod wheel, breath controller, foot or expression pedals, or MIDI controllers 16 to 21 and 84 to 90. Presets are stored in categorized bank folders, and the GUI scales to 100, 125, 150 or 200 percent.
