01Overview

RP-VERB 2 is the successor to Rob Papen's original RP-VERB, a reverb many producers have used for its dense and warm sound. Version 2 keeps that core and adds new creative tools. The biggest addition is the Reverser, which reverses the reverb tail and can run tempo-based. Envelope Follower, Envelope, LFO and a Mod Matrix let you move reverb parameters over time. A distortion module and a six-voice ensemble extend the sound further.

Reverb Character and Reverser

The RPCX algorithm reverb offers ten models, including Hall Clean, Hall Cave, Room Storm and Space Orbit 2. Size, length, pre-delay, damping and low-pass and high-pass filters let you shape the tail. Pre-delay can sync to tempo.

The Reverser takes the reverb signal and plays it backward. You can control trigger level, offset, retrigger time, reverse time, attack and decay, and mix the reversed sound with the normal output. Rob Papen describes it as useful on vocals, drums and loops alike.

Modulation and Distortion Tools

The Envelope Follower, Envelope and LFO can each control reverb parameters, and the Mod Matrix routes up to three sources to up to three destinations. Triggers include host transport start, note, pitch bend, mod wheel and several MIDI controllers. The Envelope Follower includes a gated reverb mode.

The distortion module offers Fold-over, Fuzz, Power and Saturation types, with two amount controls. The ensemble adds a six-voice chorus that can route into the reverb or run direct. An EQ based on the RP-EQ algorithm and early reflections complete the signal chain.
