01Overview

MORPH 3 takes two input sounds and creates a new sound that carries characteristics of both. Zynaptiq describes the effect as the sonic equivalent of one object slowly changing its shape into another. The plugin includes up to 11 morphing algorithms, a style transfer module, file playback, transient bypass options and a formant shifter, which together cover seamless transitions, hybrid instruments and robot or creature voices. It is a 64-bit plugin for Windows and macOS.

Morphing Algorithms and Sound Character

MORPH 3 adds four new morphing algorithms to the nine in the MORPH 2 suite: INTERWEAVE V3, IMPRINT SMOOTH, IMPRINT CRYSTAL and ENHARMONIC. Users who bought MORPH 2 on or after January 1st, 2024 are eligible for a free upgrade through the Zynaptiq website.

The Formant Shifter now offers a range of plus or minus 24 semitones. A preference setting lets the older MORPH 2 formant algorithm run inside the MORPH 2 algorithms, so the original sound can be reproduced exactly.

An optional internal double precision mode switches processing to 64 bit for higher resolution.

Workflow, Controls and Interface

The new MODELER module provides particle and granular synthesis based style transfer, along with straight file playback. The TRANSIENT BYPASS module takes the transients from the A and B inputs and adds them back into the morph, with the mix controlled by the morphing X/Y control. Transients can be boosted and can bypass the formant shifter for extra crispness.

The interface is redesigned around an interactive signal flow diagram, built with vector graphics for sharp visuals when zooming. UI scaling goes up to 200 percent for 4K and larger displays. A new soft-knee output limiter and a Preset Manager application are included, and previous or next presets can be controlled via MIDI.
