01Overview

Rotary Mod is built around the classic rotating speaker sound, modeled on the Leslie cabinet that is paired with Hammond organs. The developer says the plugin produces a pulse-like vibrato whose character depends on the rotation speed, and it gives you control over how much movement you apply. Eventide presents the effect as a way to bring the whirling modulation of 1960s recordings into a modern desktop workflow.

Speed, Horn and Rotor Control

Rotary Mod lets you set the speed of the rotor and horn independently and adjust the mix between the two. Blending them can produce pulsing effects and special vibratos.

A secondary LFO can add frequency modulation to the rotor and horn speeds, and you can choose its modulation source. A Hi-cut control shapes the top end, and Cabinet size switches between Standard and Giant to change the tone's sweetness.

Ribbon Control and Tap Tempo

The Ribbon control changes any combination of parameters at once, which makes it useful for setting up an evolving effect on the fly. Eventide suggests using it to increase modulation depth on guitar or synth leads, blend between Horn and Rotor for transitions, or change speed to draw attention to a pad or keyboard part. Desktop users can map the Ribbon to a MIDI mod wheel.

Tap Tempo syncs the effect to the BPM of your song, and Mix Lock keeps the wet-dry mix constant while you scroll through presets.
