Yamaha C7 Piano Sound and Character

The core of Mirage is a large sample set of the Yamaha C7, a concert grand piano. Muze sampled the instrument in 11,288 samples across 12 velocity layers, which gives dynamic range from soft to loud playing.

The 10 mic positions let you choose how the piano is captured, changing the balance of the instrument's body and room. The developer describes the aim as capturing the piano's style and character as closely as possible.

Effects, Layering and Sound Design Options

Mirage includes 14 built-in effects, among them a compressor, delays, reverb, limiter, cabinet, gainer, rotator, stereo panner, chorus, phaser, flanger, and 3- and 5-band EQ. These let you shape the piano without loading external processing.

The layering engine and XY pad modulation make it possible to combine the piano with the 50 hybrid textures and pads, adding atmospheric layers to the acoustic sound.
