Sound, Recording and Microphone Positions

Muze sampled the Steinway D-274 Concert Grand in Eleon Media Studio in Italy. Each key was recorded chromatically using high-end microphones and preamps, including DPA and Neumann models, according to the developer.

The library offers 10 dynamic layers and 10 microphone positions. These range from close and inside recordings to outside, room and room wide perspectives, plus vintage inside, vintage room, under, vintage close and vintage close tape options. Blending these positions lets you shape the piano's distance and character without leaving the instrument.

Mixer, Effects and Layering Workflow

Dione includes a 10-channel mixer for adjusting each sound source independently. Twelve built-in effects cover compression, delay, reverb, limiting, cabinet simulation, gain, rotation, stereo panning and a 3-band equalizer, and a full set of effects is available for deeper customization.

The layering engine and sound browser make it straightforward to combine the grand piano with the other 54 sources in the library. The library is 21.91 GB and is losslessly compressed to 8.2 GB on disk.
