Sound Design Engine and DSP Effects

Midnite uses four main audio layers with deep sound design options, plus one sub layer for low-end weight. Each layer feeds into a set of DSP modules that includes reverb with a dual granular engine, vintage delay, overdrive, a dimension filter, a glue compressor and a tonal EQ.

The overdrive module covers a wide range, from gentle saturation to heavy distortion. The granular reverb and dimension effects add movement and texture, which suits pads, drones and atmospheric leads.

Karanyi Sounds describes the instrument as having more than 200 parameters, with a layout meant to keep sound design approachable.

Controls, Randomizers and Presets

The interface exposes an advanced set of controls that can be assigned to MIDI. The GUI is designed to be easy to navigate, and you can choose from five skins to change its appearance.

Smart Randomizer technology can randomize the sound source, ADSR envelope, delay, texture, reverb or all parameters at once. This is useful for generating starting points and exploring unexpected results.

Midnite includes 160 factory presets, which the developer organizes into two libraries. Midnite Core provides 80 presets across genres, and Midnite Overdrive offers 40 presets focused on distorted sounds and pulses.
