Playing and Shaping Drum Breaks

Samples sync to the host BPM, so breaks stay locked to your tempo. The main page lets you trigger a sample from a white key or send it through the Phrase Player, which sequences drum samples and modulates pitch, velocity, filters and effects over time. Black keys trigger the five factory modifiers (Half-time, Double-Time, Reverse, Octave Down and Octave Up) and five custom modifiers.

Four macros, labeled Digital, Lo-Fi, Slap Verb and Phaser, give quick control over the sound. Five main FX parameters cover Saturation, Dynamics, Noise, Lo-Cut and Hi-Cut, and a global bypass lets you compare the processed and dry signal.

Edit Page and Effects Controls

The Edit page exposes sample-level controls. You can set start and end markers with snap to grid or transient, choose playback direction (forwards, backwards, pendulum or loop) and speed (normal, double or half), and adjust pitch, fine tuning, formant and pitch warp. Four choke groups let samples cut each other off.

The three rearrangeable effects modules are Saturation, with Tube, Tape and Fuzz modes; Dynamics, with transient and compression controls; and Noise, which offers 15 noise types including vinyl crackle, cassette and tape static, and crowd noise. A Phrase Player section and an arpeggiator-style rate, swing and latch controls handle sequencing.
