01Overview

Yumtone H4 takes its source material from the Electone HC-4, a Japanese FM synthesizer Yamaha introduced in 1987. Soundiron recorded the instrument articulations in wide stereo and direct line-in, then built additional ambient pads and FX presets from the same material. The library covers melodic sounds such as synth sustains, staccatos, piano, vibraphone and bells, along with tempo-syncable drum machine loops, hits and key sound effects. It runs inside Kontakt on Windows and macOS.

Sound Character and Playability

Soundiron recorded the instrument articulations in wide stereo and direct line-in, and the library is built around sustains, staccatos and a set of bright, tonal voices drawn from the Electone HC-4.

The interface includes Volume, Attack, Release, Transient Offset, Vibrato and Octave layering controls. The Glide slider lets you play legato and portamento leads. Turn it up for monophonic legato, or set it to 0 for standard polyphonic playing.

Modulation, Arpeggiator and Effects

The instrument includes an adaptable LFO with selectable shape, modulation target, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. You can apply 13 filter types, including lowpass, highpass and FX filters, with modulation from velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and a step-sequencer table.

A customizable arpeggiator offers a built-in velocity sequencer table, direction, note timing, swing, randomization and duration controls. A convolution reverb with 119 impulses and a multi-effects rack with EQ, filter, phaser, flanger, delay, distortion and amp and speaker simulation complete the signal chain.

The library supports Windows 7 or higher and macOS 10.9 or higher. The listed minimum requirements are a dual-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM, with an SSD or SATA drive recommended.
