01Overview

Olympus Choir Micro works as a standalone choir for mixes that need a warm, full vocal bed without a large library. The instrument includes matching men's and women's divisi sections with vowel sustains in natural and smooth pad modes, plus Latin and Russian polysustain chants and staccato syllables. The developer says the samples were recorded in a large hall with a choir of 63 singers, and it also presents the pack as a low-cost entry point into the larger Olympus collection.

Sound, Articulations and Character

Soundiron says the choir was recorded in a large, natural hall with 63 singers from several San Francisco ensembles, conducted by Robert Geary. The core articulations are 'Ah' and 'Oo' vowel sustains, available in both natural and smooth pad modes, with 'Oo' sustains at pp and 'Ah' sustains at ff.

The pack also includes two chromatic polysustain sets: a 100 BPM Latin 'Dominum' set and a 140 BPM Russian 'Raduisya' set, each with release syllables. 'Ah' and 'Oo' staccato syllables cover rhythmic writing.

For a more textural sound, the included Special FX presets and atmospheric pads are designed for building soundscapes.

Controls, Reverb and Workflow

The custom Kontakt interface exposes attack, release, transient start offset, dynamic swelling, layer blend, panning, Tempo Sync, Pad mode and Key Range. Each divisi section has its own pan control, and independent release timing and release volume settings let you control room decay.

Polyphonic legato is simulated across divisi and dual layers, with adjustable speed, interval range and glissando intensity. A three-band parametric EQ with a sweepable mid and a reverb section with more than 50 custom impulse responses, including cathedrals, churches, halls, garages and tunnels, are built into the interface.

The polysustains sync to the host tempo automatically in Kontakt 5 presets.
