01Overview

Hyperion Strings Micro is Soundiron's introductory orchestral string library, built for the free Kontakt Player and compatible with Komplete Kontrol and Native Instruments S-Series keyboards. The developer says the strings were recorded close up in a dry sound stage, leaving room for added spatialization and positioning. Its five Kontakt banks hold 2,950 samples, covering the full ensemble plus separate violin, viola, cello and bass presets.

Sound, Articulations and Expression Control

The library covers the core articulations most string writing needs. Multi-dynamic sustains come with and without natural vibrato, and you can blend between the two with a sustain blend control. Staccatos, spiccatos and pizzicatos are layered across dynamics and include two round-robin variations per note.

For the short articulations, you can switch to velocity-sensitive mode and shape dynamics directly while you play. Pizzicatos can switch between loose flams and tight plucks, either manually or automatically based on playing speed. Crescendo and decrescendo expressions use dynamically aware release triggering and tempo syncing.

Soundstage, Workflow and Use Cases

Each string section can be positioned freely within a set of custom rooms, halls, chambers and FX environments, which helps place the ensemble in a mix. The interface offers detailed controls, and the developer describes it as simple to use despite its depth.

Adaptive Play Assist and Arpeggio systems are included for quick sketching. The library suits songwriters starting with orchestral writing, as well as composers looking for an additional string color.
