The set includes 23 playable instruments, from a bent cymbal and bike spokes to a water cooler and wind chimes. Found-Object Percussion Sounds

The instruments cover a wide range of metallic, glassy and plastic tones. Items include a bent cymbal, a saw blade, a galvanized bar, a glass lamp, a tin can, a chandelier and piano strings. Several entries are built around a percussion ensemble, and a Tibetan chime tree and wind chimes add sustained shimmer.

Because each object was sampled and programmed for playability, the library suits rhythmic hits, textures and melodic tapping alike. The set is best for producers who want sounds that feel organic and unpredictable without building their own sample library from scratch.

Kontakt Controls and Effects

The interface offers automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, coarse and fine pitch, articulation switching, cross-fading and layering. An adaptable LFO system provides selectable shapes, targets, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time.

An arpeggiator with velocity table, direction, timing, swing and randomization controls is included, along with key and scale locking. A modular FX rack supports up to 10 slots, with 18 effect modules to choose from. The library also ships with 20 custom FX presets and 99 convolution reverb rooms plus 40 custom FX impulses.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to use Cathedral of Junk?

You need the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.5 or later. The free Kontakt Player only runs the library in a limited demo mode and does not support its open-format instrument.

Which operating systems does Cathedral of Junk support?

The library runs on Windows and macOS. Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.9 or higher are listed as the minimum versions.

How much disk space does the library use?

The library takes up 542 MB once installed. Soundiron recommends an SSD or SATA hard drive for best results.

Can I use the samples outside of Kontakt?

Yes. The sample directories are unlocked, so you can use the WAV files in other WAV-compatible software, samplers and synth formats.
