01Overview

Velvet is built around vocal processing. Its Sibilance channel handles harsh hiss with a fully featured 6-band dynamic EQ, while the Tonal channel is processed separately so the rest of the voice keeps its character. The Learn button scans the material and sets up EQ nodes at the sibilant frequencies, so you can start from a sensible point instead of hunting for them by ear. A separate De-Click section targets clicks, pops and other mouth sounds.

03In depth

Sibilance control and tone shaping in Velvet

Velvet splits sibilant and tonal material so each can be processed on its own. After pressing Learn, the plugin identifies sibilant frequencies and places the 6-band dynamic EQ nodes for you. You can adjust or add individual nodes, scale them with a single knob, and change filter types when a sibilant peak needs a different shape.

For broader shaping, independent Lift and Tame knobs let you boost or cut the vocal in specific places. Eight target profiles and frequency sliders control which parts of the target spectrum the vocal should follow.

Workflow, De-Click and presets

The De-Click section removes clicks, pops and mouth sounds. A repair counter shows how many corrections have been made, and a single fader sets the amount of processing.

Velvet includes 50 presets that can serve as starting points. Solo the Sibilance and Tonal channels to hear what each is doing, adjust the threshold to change the split, and use the global Delta button to compare your change against the original. The mix fader supports parallel processing.
