Sibilance Detection and Basic De-Essing
Re-Esser's detection is designed to find sibilant content and separate it from the tonal elements of the signal. Wavesfactory says this removes the need for manual thresholds, which makes the plugin quicker to set up on a new vocal.
For straightforward corrective work, the main volume knob boosts or reduces the sibilance level. Because the tonal layer is kept apart from the sibilant layer, you can reduce harshness while keeping the top end of a vocal open and detailed.
The plugin can also be used to restore recordings that were previously over-de-essed, and to boost top-end without bringing back harshness.
