01Overview

UltraChannel bundles several versions of Eventide's effects into a single channel strip. Its FlexiPath routing lets you drag and drop the top-level components, which include the O-Pressor, compressor/de-esser, EQ and gate, into whatever order suits your workflow. It is offered in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats and runs as a 64-bit plugin on Windows and macOS. A free trial is available.

Channel strip processing and signal path control

The core of UltraChannel is its channel strip layout. The top-level components can be reordered by dragging them, so you can place the compressor before the EQ, or move the gate ahead of the O-Pressor, and hear how each change affects the signal.

The five-band parametric EQ covers the full audio spectrum, with frequency, gain and Q adjustable on each band. Side-chaining is supported, so an alternative audio source can shape the characteristics of the main signal.

Saturation, compression and micro pitch effects

The output module includes a model of an analog transformer that can be driven into saturation. Used subtly, it adds definition to low-frequency content. Driven harder, it recreates classic transformer core saturation.

UltraChannel also includes two compressors, one with de-essing and side-chaining and the other the O-Pressor, which Eventide derives from its Omnipressor and describes as adding character and extreme compression. Micro pitch shifting, based on Eventide's patented pitch shifting, can thicken a source or widen its stereo spread, with panning and delay spread controls alongside a pair of delays.
