01Overview

SSL Guitarstrip brings four guitar processing modules into a single plugin. Its drive section offers guitar and bass amp emulations for adding overdrive, saturation and grit, while the phase correction module helps align a amp recording with a pedalboard DI. A compressor with five preset responses, a 24 dB/8ve high-pass filter and a simplified 3-band EQ complete the chain. The plugin is aimed at producers and engineers working on guitar at both the tracking and mixing stages.

Drive, Compression and EQ for Guitar Tone

The DRIVE module includes two classic tube amp emulations, one for guitar and one for bass. DRIVE is automatically gain-compensated, so you can add harmonic content without changing the level of the signal. The BOOST, PUNCH, EDGE and SHAPE controls sculpt the added harmonics, and a wet/dry MIX control lets you blend the effect in.

The compressor offers five preset responses for material ranging from electric lead lines to acoustic strumming. AUTO-GAIN applies automatic make-up gain, and a COMPRESSOR MIX control allows parallel compression. The 3-band EQ has an asymmetrical LOW GAIN control, and AUTO LISTEN auditions an EQ band in place when a related parameter changes.

Phase Correction and Workflow Features

The phase correction module is designed for fixing phase differences between a guitar amp recording and a pedalboard DI. It offers SIDECHAIN mode for aligning a track to an external signal, LEFT CHAN and RIGHT CHAN modes for stereo material, and a CORRELATION METER that shows the phase difference between signals. Sample-accurate DELAY and PHASE INVERT controls handle broad corrections, and the ALLPASS filter makes frequency-dependent adjustments.

The plugin includes built-in help that appears when you click the ? and mouse over the interface, an ECO mode for reduced CPU use, cross-platform preset management, and undo/redo.
