01Overview

Octavox is an effects plugin built on technology from Eventide's H8000 hardware processor. It takes incoming tones, including drums, and generates up to eight voices that follow the key and scale you select. Producers can use it to stack harmonies, widen instruments and build rhythmic sequences. The plugin ships with more than 70 presets and supports MIDI control for changing intervals in real time.

Sound, Voices and Control

Each of the eight voices can be adjusted independently for level, panning, delay time with feedback, and pitch, including the type of musical interval. Delays can be synced to your DAW tempo, which makes it possible to build melodic rhythmic delays.

MIDI support adds performance control. A MIDI note sets each voice interval, Pitch Bend shifts the voice amount, and the Modulation Wheel triggers Randomize, which adds micro pitch shift for a more natural character.

Workflow and Common Uses

A pitch-tracking off mode is designed for polyphonic and rhythmic sources. MixLock keeps the wet/dry balance fixed while you scroll through presets or snapshots, and Key Lock does the same for key and scale. Up to 32 snapshots can be saved, loaded and automated.

Eventide describes uses for thickening existing instruments, creating vocal harmonies and chorus effects, building ping-pong delays, and making staircase pitch effects for sound design.
