01Overview

UFO 61 is built around sustains and staccato samples recorded for each key, giving you playable material for both held and rhythmic parts. The stock presets are shaped by an octave, vibrato and FX rack that lets you adjust the instrument's analog-style tone. Its 544 stereo samples come to 1.74 GB installed, and the library is designed for the full retail version of Kontakt 5.5 or later.

Sound Character and Playing Controls

Soundiron recorded UFO 61 in a dry studio using a pair of Neumann TLM 103 large diaphragm microphones, so the reverb and space come from the included processing rather than the room.

The main controls include Swell, pitch Glide, Attack, Release, Vibrato and Octave. Turn Glide up for monophonic legato playing, or set it to 0 for standard polyphonic mode. The Octave knob adds a lower and higher octave doubling for extra body and power.

All parameters are automation-ready in your host or in Kontakt's stand-alone mode.

Effects Rack and Convolution Reverb

The library includes a full multi-effects rack with EQ, filter, phaser, flanger, delay, distortion and amp and speaker simulation.

The convolution reverb offers 119 impulses, including cathedrals, churches, chambers, rooms, halls and special effect spaces. Developer Soundiron says these range from natural spaces to otherworldly FX impulses for unusual sonic textures.

The two main instruments include an LFO, filter and arpeggiator alongside the FX rack, so the presets can be reshaped without leaving the instrument.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to use UFO 61?

UFO 61 requires the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.5 or later. The free Kontakt Player does not fully support this open-format library and only runs it in a limited demo mode.

Which operating systems does UFO 61 support?

UFO 61 is listed for Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.9 or higher. A dual-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM and an SSD or SATA drive are recommended.

Can I use the WAV samples outside Kontakt?

Yes. The sample directories are unlocked, so the 24-bit/48kHz stereo WAV files can be imported into other WAV-compatible plugins, samplers and DAWs.
