Tonal balance metering and the Leveled View

The core of Tonal Balance Control 3 is a tonal balance meter that compares your audio to a target curve. The new Leveled View shows exactly where your audio departs from the target, making it easier to see which frequency ranges need attention.

Three additional meters broaden the comparison. Vocal Balance checks how vocals sit in the mix, Dynamics looks at energy and impact, and Stereo Width assesses how wide the image is. A dedicated low-end crest factor meter focuses on the dynamics of bass frequencies, and three views (Leveled, Fine and 4-band Broad) let you read the balance at different levels of detail.

Targets, Target Library and capturing references

Tonal Balance Control 3 ships with a Target Library of dozens of genre and subgenre targets, which iZotope built by analyzing hundreds of professional tracks. You can search, filter and favorite targets for quick access.

The standalone desktop app captures targets from any audio source on your computer, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. Inside your DAW, you can turn live audio into new targets, save the profile of a finished master, or compare tracks across an album. The Target Blender combines any two targets with percentage weighting to build a custom reference. Users upgrading from Tonal Balance Control 2 can import saved targets into the Target Library.

Hybrid EQ and mastering workflow

The built-in Hybrid EQ places static and dynamic nodes directly on the spectrum, so you can make tonal adjustments while watching the Leveled View. For more detailed editing, Tonal Balance Control 3 connects to Ozone and Neutron EQs from within the plugin, or lets you load targets into Ozone to balance a track with the full mastering toolkit.
