01Overview

Things – Flip EQ is an EQ plugin built around a single tilting control. Turning the main knob right adds highs and reduces lows, while turning it left boosts lows and attenuates highs. A Cutoff control sets the frequency where the tilt takes effect, and a Boost button raises the gain of the EQ. The plugin also includes a mid/side mode, so the tilt can be applied to the mid or side channel of a stereo signal.

Tilt EQ Control and Cutoff Options

The main knob works as a tilt EQ, moving the balance of the signal between low and high frequencies in one motion. This makes it quick to brighten or darken a sound without setting several separate bands.

The Cutoff control lets you choose the frequency at which the EQ operates. The Boost button increases the gain of the EQ, so you can push the tilt further when a sound needs more change.

The window can be resized, which helps when working with more detailed control placement.

Mid/Side Processing for Stereo Width

Things – Flip EQ can process the mid or the side of a stereo signal. The mid channel holds the centre content, and boosting it gives a more mono sound. The side channel holds the difference between left and right, and boosting it creates a wider, more spacious image.

The developer describes the mid/side mode as a way to enhance stereo depth. Applying the tilt to only one part of the signal lets you shape the centre and the edges of a mix separately.
