01Overview

Solid State Logic builds X-EQ 2 on its anti-cramping algorithms, which are designed to keep high-frequency detail that can be lost in a digital audio environment. Each of its 24 bands can be set to bell, shelf, low pass or high pass filtering, with classic and customisable curve shapes available per band. The plugin also includes mid-side and independent left/right processing, band soloing for locating problem frequencies, and real-time visual frequency analysis. It is aimed at producers and engineers who want a highly configurable EQ for mixing and mastering.

Filter Types and Band Control

X-EQ 2 gives each of its 24 bands a choice of 17 EQ types and filter shapes. Every band can be switched between bell, shelf, low pass and high pass modes, and both classic and customisable curve shapes are available.

Band soloing lets you isolate a single band while you sweep it, which helps when you are hunting for resonances or harshness. Real-time visual frequency analysis shows the spectrum as you adjust the curve.

Stereo Processing and Workflow

Mid-side and independent left/right processing let you shape the centre and sides of a mix separately, or treat each channel on its own. This is useful for correcting stereo balance or adjusting the width of specific frequency ranges.

The developer describes the DSP as optimized for light, efficient CPU use, which matters when the EQ is inserted across many tracks in a session.
