The smart:filter analyzes a track, bus or entire mix and balances its spectrum against a chosen profile. Profiles cover instruments, speech and entire mixes by genre, and you can also create a custom profile from a reference track.

In Group mode, several instances can be arranged into an unmasking hierarchy of up to ten tracks. Each smart:filter can be set to Track, Group, or Track and Group. Track balances the channel itself, Group reduces masking against other group members without changing the channel, and Track and Group applies both. Developer sonible describes this as a top-down way to decide which elements sit forward, in the middle or in the background.

In Group View, you can view and change parameters for every instance in the same group from a single window, and select profiles for all of them. Track View gives the current instance priority while keeping group placement accessible.

Regular EQ bands gain dynamic behavior with Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release and Range controls, and can be used alongside or instead of the main smart:filter bands. A Smoothing parameter provides gentler filtering, and Auto Gain compensates for level changes when you adjust the sound.
