Sound and Playing Character
The samples capture a steel tongue drum tuned to E minor pentatonic, so melodies built on that scale fit the instrument naturally. AudioThing says the sound has a long release and is rich in harmonics, which gives sustained notes a ringing, bell-like tail.
The library includes performance detail as well. Samples were recorded with hands and rubber mallets, and the set also includes some hand and brush sound effects. Five round robin samples and three velocity layers help keep repeated notes from sounding identical and let softer and harder strikes respond differently.
