01Overview

Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II is a standalone and expanded evolution of IK Multimedia's T-RackS reverb. It models the live rooms of Studios 1, 2 and 3 using Volumetric Response Modeling, a method that changes the room response with the position of the sound source rather than relying on a single static impulse response. The plugin is aimed at producers and engineers who want authentic room character with flexible control over size, source placement and routing.

Source Positioning and Room Response

Version II includes a Live Room Positioning System with up to 27 discrete source locations per studio. Each position was captured separately rather than interpolated, so changes in boundary reinforcement and early reflections follow the source's place in the room.

Studios 1 and 3 also offer variable dampening states that model movable absorption panels. Switching between these states changes decay and tonal balance, giving you several room characters within one studio.

Dual Engines, Size Control and Source Modes

Two fully independent reverb engines run in parallel, so you can combine live rooms with chambers, iso booths, EMT plates and AKG spring reverbs. Each engine has its own EQ, stereo control and routing.

Size scales the impulse response length from 0% to 200% while keeping the early reflection structure. Directional mode suits vocals, guitar cabinets and brass, while Omni mode suits drums, piano and ensembles.

Mixing Workflow and Analog Color

The 3D interface shows source movement, diffusion, dampening and routing changes as they happen. The developer also includes two preamp and signal path emulations, an API/DeMedio Sunset Sound Custom and a Class-A Discrete NEVE 8880, to add harmonic content to the sound.
