MODO DRUM 1.5 is IK Multimedia's expanded drum instrument, available as a plugin in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats. Instead of playing back recorded hits, it models each drum from parameters such as size, tension, material and playing style. Modal synthesis for customizable drum sounds

IK Multimedia's developer describes MODO DRUM 1.5 as a physical modeling instrument that combines modal synthesis with advanced sampling. Each drum's sound depends on its diameter, height, shell profile, skin, tuning and damping, and the interaction between drum head and body.

You can adjust the diameter and height of every drum and change the shell profile on the fly. For snares, you can change size and tension, and for kick drums you can switch beater type and technique between heel up and heel down. Sympathetic resonance between snare and toms can also be controlled.

Play style, room and mixing controls

The play style controls let you select the hitting position, swap stick and head types, and adjust the accuracy of each hit. Infinite velocity layers and infinite round-robins are included so that repeated hits do not sound identical.

The room section places the kit in eight convolution-based spaces, and the mixer offers per-element level and panning, mute, solo, phase flip, buses, and a suite of 19 studio processors and effects derived from T-RackS and AmpliTube.
