Pianoverse MAX: Concert-Grade Piano Instrument by IK Multimedia

IK Multimedia says the pianos were sourced from makers including Yamaha, Steinway, Bösendorfer and Fazioli, then tuned and sampled in an Italian studio. The developer describes a robot-assisted process that measured velocity response and aimed to keep the dynamic curve of each key intact.

The instrument uses a new sound engine with redesigned round robin and voice management. Two microphone setups per piano let you choose between a closer, more modern sound and a more classical one.

Performance controls include adjustable lid position, harp resonance, pedal noise and mallet noise. All three pedals offer continuous control, including half- and catch-pedaling.

The mixing section adds selectable EQ and compression for each microphone pair, a master channel with EQ and a limiter, and a Stereo Width control. Thirty generative spaces place the piano in different ambient environments, and twelve creative cinematic effects help tailor the sound further.
