Spring Reverb Character and Baxandall EQ Tone Shaping
Spring reverbs were traditionally paired with tone stacks from guitar amplifiers. Springs builds on that idea with a Baxandall EQ, a tone circuit mostly found in guitar amps. The classic version offers only bass and treble. AudioThing has added a mid band with Q control to shape the reverb further.
The bands in a Baxandall EQ interact with each other. The developer notes that this behavior is a large part of why the curves feel smooth and musical. The EQ can process the mix of dry and wet signal or only the wet signal.
The Bandwidth control filters the input before it reaches the spring emulation. This helps tame springs that sound boomy in the low end or too bright and boingy.
