01Overview

RP-Distort 2 is the successor to Rob Papen's RP-Distort. Its core is a distortion module with pre- and post-distortion EQ and a gate, offering a selection of distortion types, including amp and cabinet simulations and Lo-fi and two-band options. Path control lets you rearrange the distortion, filter, compressor and widener or chorus modules in the signal chain. Modulation is handled by a Disrupt Sphere, an audio follower, LFOs and an extended mod matrix.

Distortion Engine and Signal Path

The distortion module is the heart of RP-Distort 2. It includes a pre-distortion EQ, a post-distortion EQ and a gate, and the EQ can be edited graphically or with dials in the original RP-Distort mode.

The developer notes 52 distortion types, including Lo-fi, two-band distortions, amp and cabinet models and audio modulation. Dual Wave-Shapers let you build your own distortion curves. The filter, compressor and widener or chorus modules can be reordered in the signal path, and the interface reflects that order.

Modulation Tools and Bank Management

The Disrupt Sphere controls several modulation parameters at once. The audio follower can use a side input to drive the Disrupt Sphere, so the incoming signal shapes the modulation.

Modulation also includes LFOs and an extended mod matrix. Modulation sources include FM, PM, ring modulation, two-band ring modulation and side ring modulation. A bank manager helps organize presets and banks. The plugin offers 100%, 150% and 200% GUI sizes.
