01Overview

MOJO 2: Alto Saxophone takes the alto sax from the MOJO 2 library and makes it available as a solo instrument. Vir2 Instruments recorded it with True Legato, so the transitions between notes are captured for horn lines that sound lifelike. The instrument covers 13 articulations, from sustains and staccato to falls, crescendos and trills, and includes 3 mic positions plus a pre-mixed Full Mix option for a lighter computer load.

Sound, Mic Positions and Era Presets

The alto sax is recorded at three mic positions: close, near and room. You can blend them in the Mixer page, or load the Full Mix, a processed stereo mix of all three, to reduce memory use.

Four era presets, Modern, Retro (60s-70s), Vintage 1 (40s-50s) and Vintage 2 (20s-30s), shape the sound toward different periods of recording history. Keynoise overlay adds the sound of the player's interaction with the instrument for extra realism.

For ensemble parts, the instrument scales from 1 to 10 players, with Auto Divisi mode for more natural section performances.

Workflow, Articulations and Effects

Each articulation has its own patch with a speed knob to speed up or slow down the performance. Articulation On/Off switches let you load only the articulations a project needs, which keeps the memory footprint smaller.

The Performance page covers global and articulation-specific controls, including volume, release length, legato, vibrato, pitch bend range and round robins. The Mapping page lets you change the keyboard layout and where articulations and releases are triggered.

Nine effects, including EQ, Cabinet, Saturation, Tape Saturator, Compressor, Limiter, Delay and Reverb, come with dozens of presets as starting points. Full Komplete Kontrol and Maschine integration gives hands-on control through NKS-compatible hardware.
