01Overview

Electri6ity is a guitar instrument built for Kontakt and released by Vir2 Instruments. It covers eight electric guitar models, each recorded with front, rear and blended pickup options. Its sample set is built to reproduce playing techniques, not only held notes, so a single performance can include strums, picked notes, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides and mutes. Guitar Models, Pickups and Articulations

Electri6ity includes eight guitars: Strat, Tele, P90, Les Paul, Rickenbacker, Danelectro Lipstick, ES335 and L4. Each guitar offers three pickup positions: front, rear, and a front and rear blend.

The articulation list is extensive. It covers sustain across the neck and bridge, octave pinch harmonics, dead, muted and half-muted notes, clean and dirty ghost notes, hammer-ons and pull-offs played after a sustained note or tapped, one and two fret slides, and FX samples such as screams and whammy effects. Release types include finger noise, palm mute, hand mute and several slide-down and slide-up options.

Developer Vir2 Instruments says every sample is recorded clean as a direct guitar input, so amp and effect choices are made later in the signal chain.

Playing Engines and Workflow

Electri6ity runs on the Kontakt 4 engine and adds its own scripting. Articulation Morphing Technology and Velocity Morphing Technology move between dead mutes and sustain, or soft and loud notes. The string and fretboard position engine chooses positions automatically, and you can override them by selecting a string or a fret manually.

The chord detection engine recognizes almost 2,000 chords in real time and includes up to three voicings for most guitar chords. Performance keys handle strumming, picking, trills, tremolo picking and slides. The instrument exposes more than 100 parameters for detailed control of playback.
