01Overview

Matra takes its name from the echo-rich Matra Mountains in North Hungary, and its focus is delay. The Dual Delay Engine is paired with a Wash control that blends reverb and grain into the repeats, and a Spread feature that works as a delay-on-delay. Beyond delay, the plugin includes dual resonant filters with a filter LFO, two distortion units covering heavy distortion and saturation, Wow/chorus, and tone shaping through EQ, a multimode filter and stereo imaging. Matra comes with 40 artist presets.

Delay engine and Wash control

The core of Matra is its dual delay engine, which Karanyi Sounds describes as studio-grade. The Spread feature runs a delay-on-delay structure, and the dedicated Wash control lets you blend reverb and grain into the delays for more textured, spacious repeats.

The Wow/chorus module adds tape-style character to the delayed signal. Combined with the Wash control, this makes Matra suited to ambient delays and vocal textures as well as more vintage-sounding echoes.

Filters, distortion and tone shaping

Matra includes dual resonant filters and a filter LFO for rhythmic movement and filter sweeps. Two distortion units cover heavy distortion and saturation, and the drive section can be used with the input filter to control which frequencies are distorted.

For final shaping, the plugin offers a tone EQ, a multimode filter and stereo imaging. The Smart Random and Quick Fade controls help with fast experimentation, and a MIDI-learnable set of controls lets you map parameters to hardware.
