01Overview

Jewel Empire II is a sample library from Soundiron that captures the character of the GEM Imperial II, a large Italian electronic organ made by GeneralMusic in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The instrument is recorded in wide stereo with a direct line input and covers a broad set of sustains and staccatos, including normal and bass voices. Alongside the organ articulations, the library adds twenty evolving atmospheric patches designed from the source material. It runs in Kontakt on Windows and macOS and needs the full version of Kontakt 5.5 or later.

Organ Sound, Sustains and Staccatos

The library draws on recordings of the GEM Imperial II, an organ with two keybeds, many voice tabs, a dedicated bass voice section and drawbars. Soundiron recorded the articulations in wide stereo and through a direct line input, and the set includes both normal and bass sustains and staccatos.

The developer describes the instrument as useful for composers who want a distinct vintage organ color. The twenty ambience patches and the synth-style sustains and FX pads extend the sound beyond traditional organ tones.

Performance Controls and Effects

The interface offers control over volume, attack, release, transient offset, vibrato and octave layering. The Glide slider switches between monophonic legato and portamento playing when raised, and standard polyphonic playing at zero.

An adaptable LFO section includes selectable shape, modulation target, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. Thirteen lowpass, highpass and FX filters can be assigned to modulation sources such as velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and a step-sequencer table. A customizable arpeggiator adds a velocity table and control over direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration.

An included convolution reverb offers 119 impulses, and a multi-effects rack provides EQ, filter, phaser, flanger, delay, distortion and amp and speaker simulation.
