Sound Sources and Playing Techniques
Soundiron recorded the instrument by playing it with viola bows on the throne edges, which produces eerie melodic and dissonant tones. The library includes several bowed sets, among them long sustains, medium glissando effects, short staccato, spiccato and tremolo sustains.
Percussive articulations cover a wide range of techniques. Finger drags, rubber ball rubs and flat mallet rubs were made by dragging mallets or fingers along the surfaces in long arcs and lines, which makes the object resonate much like a rubbed gong. Mallet strikes use wooden, felt and metal-tipped mallets to produce metal percussion sets. Brush, finger and comb effects add further texture.
