01Overview

GTR Solo is Waves' streamlined take on its GTR3 suite of amps and effects. It keeps the same amp and effect modeling in a smaller package, covering clean, overdrive and high-gain tones for guitar. Two custom amps designed with Paul Reed Smith are included. The plugin is aimed at studio tracking and live setups, with a virtual pedalboard and cabinet and mic chain built in.

Amps, Cabs and Miking Options

GTR Solo includes 2 clean, 3 overdrive and 4 high-gain amp models. Pair them with 9 guitar cabinets and 1 bass cabinet, then choose from 12 miking options across 3 mic types.

The ToolRack module brings these pieces together into a complete guitar setup. You can build the signal chain with virtual cabs and miking positions without leaving the plugin.

A built-in tuner covers guitar and bass, including alternate and user-defined tunings.

Pedal Effects and Workflow

The effects section offers chorus, overdrive, distortion, delay, 2 reverbs and 6 more effects. You can insert up to 4 pedal effects and set each one pre- or post-amp.

Effect positions can be rearranged by drag and drop in the effects chain. Tap tempo and tempo sync help time-based effects match your project.

The developer describes the ToolRack paradigm as ideal for real-time live performance, and the plugin is compatible with multipoint touch-sensitive screens. 68 factory presets give you a starting point.
