01Overview

PRS SuperModels is built around the way a guitar amp feels to play, not only how it sounds. The developer says the three amp models were created in close collaboration with Paul Reed Smith to recreate the response of playing through high-end tube amplifiers. The amps cover clean tones, blues and rock overdrive, and high-gain sounds. Each amp has tone stacks for shaping your own sound, and the plugin can run inside a DAW or as a standalone app.

Amp Models, Tone Stacks and Cabinet Options

The bundle includes three amp models. Waves describes the Blue Sierra/V9 as a clean crunch amp, the Dallas as a source of big rock and blues overdrive, and the Archon as an amp that ranges from pristine tones to high gain.

Each amp includes musical tone stacks for shaping a distinctive sound. Controls for tube, transformer and boost responses let you adjust how the amp reacts. A boost switch pushes the amps into high-gain territory.

The dual cabinets can be customized with 8 included cab IRs, and you can also load third-party IRs. Smart Mix, Phase Fix and Time Fix help match any two cabinets so they combine cleanly.

Playing Feel, Auto-Gain and Control Options

Auto-Gain is designed to match the amp to your guitar, which helps keep levels consistent when you switch between instruments or pickups.

The plugin has full MIDI implementation, so it can be controlled from foot controllers. That makes it practical for live rigs as well as studio recording. It is available as a plugin or standalone app, depending on how you want to work.
