01Overview

Fatty 311 is built around the tonal character of the Conn Prelude 311, a vintage electro organ with a wooden body and a warm, analog sound. Soundiron sampled the instrument's sustains, releases, staccatos and effects in three microphone positions, Close, Mid and Far, so you can choose how much room is in the sound. The library also includes emulated timbres such as clarinet, trombone, violin and flute, along with ambient synth pads built from the source material.

Sound Character and Microphone Positions

The core of the library is the electro organ sample set, recorded in three microphone positions: Close, Mid and Far. The Close position gives a direct, focused tone, while the Far position adds more space. Soundiron describes the instrument as warm and beefy, with a sound that can cut through a mix.

Beyond the organ voice, the library includes synth clarinet, trombone, violin, guitar tremolo, flute and reed sounds, as well as a major bass patch. The sample set totals 8,700 stereo samples in 24-bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM WAV format, taking up 6.17 GB once installed.

Controls, Effects and Presets

The interface uses multi-layer controls with an LFO, filter, glide and arpeggiator. Soundiron also includes a full FX rack with convolution reverb, offering custom rooms, halls, chambers and FX environments.

The library ships with 21 Kontakt .nki instrument presets and 20 sound-designed FX and ambient presets to start from. The FX rack and reverb make it practical for both traditional organ parts and experimental sound design.

The library takes up 6.17 GB once installed.

What is the Conn Prelude 311 that Fatty 311 is based on?

Soundiron based the library on the Conn Prelude 311 electro organ, which has a real spring reverb unit and two 44-key keyboards. Soundiron describes it as the source of the library's tonal character.
