01Overview

EXPOSE 2 Upgrade from EXPOSE 1 is aimed at producers who already use EXPOSE and want the newer version. The developer describes it as a tool for catching technical problems such as poor EQ balance, true peak clipping, over-compression and phase issues before a track is distributed. You drop audio into the application, choose a preset for your distribution method, and review the readings and feedback. It runs as a standalone app, so a DAW is not needed for the analysis itself.

Tonal Balance and Loudness Analysis

The Compare EQ view shows how the average tonal balance of your track compares to an imported reference track. You can also choose a genre-specific preset, which Mastering The Mix says was built from sonic profiles of commercially successful tracks. Differences within ±3 dB are described as a very similar tonal balance, while differences greater than ±6 dB indicate a considerable difference you may want to address.

Loudness Match normalizes all tracks in the session using a LUFS algorithm, so you can compare material at the same perceived volume. This removes the bias that louder playback tends to create when judging bass and high-frequency clarity.

Measurements and Issue Detection

EXPOSE 2 reports integrated LUFS, short-term LUFS, true peak in decibels with 16x oversampling, sample peak, left and right heat maps, a correlation heat map, short-term dynamic range and loudness range. When an issue is detected, the readouts and waveform are highlighted so you can see exactly where it occurs.

The analysis feedback offers specific guidance on adjusting your audio. It is framed around technical goals such as a loud club master or a track optimized for streaming platforms. The application includes 27 presets and 5 user preset slots.
