01Overview

Equinox is an effects plugin in the reverb category, developed by iZotope for music and post production work. It is built on reverb engines from Exponential Audio's Stratus and Symphony, so it can produce both realistic spaces and experimental textures. iZotope's adaptive unmasking is designed to keep reverb from crowding the rest of the mix, and a large preset library gives you a starting point for most projects.

Reverb sound, realistic and experimental

Equinox brings two reverb families into one plugin. You can place instruments or dialogue into a realistic space, or move them into more surreal environments.

Advanced controls let you shape the reverb in detail, and a global tone control applies a simple tilt EQ to the reverb signal. This makes it quick to push the tail darker or brighter without opening a separate EQ.

Creative functions include Freeze for sustained drones, along with Chorus and Gate. Tempo sync and tail suppression help the reverb sit in time and stay clear within a track.

Mixing, presets and workflow

Dynamic adaptive unmasking carves space for the reverb so that vocals and lead instruments stay upfront. iZotope positions this as a way to keep mixes clean and focused.

The preset browser supports keyword searches across the 1250+ presets and lets you save favorites for later. Surround reverb is supported, and the Balance tab is used to adjust and automate reverb in surround formats.

If you already own Stratus or Symphony, you can import those presets in one click. In Pro Tools, a backward compatibility workflow can replace Stratus or Symphony instances with Equinox and match their settings.
