01Overview

DeBoom is aimed at a specific problem: low-frequency buildup that makes kick drums and bass sound boomy or unclear. Traditional equalizers can reduce that mud, but they often remove the thump and attack along with it. Eventide says DeBoom avoids this by separating the incoming signal into transient and tonal layers and applying its EQ only to the tonal layer. The result is a tool built around a single control, with undo/redo, input gain and built-in bypass.

How Structural Split Targets Low-End Mud

Eventide's Structural Split technology analyzes the incoming audio and divides it into two components. The transient layer covers noise, pops, mic plosives, vocal sibilance and attacks. The tonal layer covers sustained notes, harmonics, tone and ambiance.

DeBoom applies specially designed EQ curves to the tonal layer only. Eventide describes this as removing boom while leaving the transient intact, so the attack of a kick or bass note keeps its impact.

Eventide notes that the same technology is found in its SplitEQ and Physion plugins, and that DeBoom brings the approach into a single-control interface.

One-Knob Workflow for Repair, Reshaping and Enhancement

DeBoom uses one main dial. Turning it reduces mud, and the interface is intended to keep the low-frequency thud in place. Eventide lists three main applications: repairing audio with excess low-frequency muddiness, reshaping low frequencies without collateral damage, and tightening low frequencies to refine their balance.

The interface also includes undo/redo, input gain and a built-in bypass, which makes it easy to compare the processed and unprocessed signal while you adjust the single control.
